General procedure: To a mixture of 3-amino-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one 1 (0.35 g, 2 mmol), dimedone 2 (0.28 g, 2 mmol), and aldehyde 3 (2 mmol) in 15 mL ethanol, 0.14 g (0.004 mol %) H3PW12O40 was added.
