The cerium(IV) pyrazolate complexes [Ce(Me(2)pz)(4)](2)and [Ce(Me(2)pz)(4)(thf)] initiate beta-hydride abstraction of the bis(dimethylsilyl)amido moiety, to afford a heteroleptic cerium(IV) species containing a dimethylpyrazolyl-substituted silylamido ligand, namely [Ce(Me(2)pz)(3)(bpsa)] (bpsa=bis((3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)dimethylsilyl)amido; Me(2)pz =3,5-dimethylpyrazolato), along with some cerium(III) species. Remarkably, the nucleophilic attack of the pyrazolyl at the silicon atom and concomitant Si-H-bond cleavage is restricted to the tetravalent cerium oxidation state and appears to proceed via the formation of a transient cerium(IV) hydride, which engages in immediate redox chemistry. When [Ce(Me(2)pz)(4)](2)is treated with [Li{N(SiMe3)(2)}], that is, in the absence of the SiH functionality, any redox chemistry did not occur. Instead, the ceric ate complex [LiCe2(Me(2)pz)(9)] and the stable mixed-ligand ceric species [Ce(Me(2)pz)(2){N(SiMe3)(2)}(2)] were obtained.

Self-healing materials can partially or completely heal the damage done to them, and it is expected that their original function will be thereby restored. Herein, we report a novel self-healing polyvinyl (Sh-PV) containing functional polymer that reacts to thermal and ultraviolet (UV) energy. The structure of Sh-PV was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-1 NMR). In addition, aluminum oxide (Al2O3) inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) were added and hybridized to improve their poor self-healing efficiency and surface hardness of the coated thin film. Mechanical nanoscratch testing and scanning probe microscopy (SPM) imaging of surface using a nanoindenter were performed to investigate the healing ability of self-healing thin films. The organic-inorganic hybrid self-healing polymer thin film exhibited a 10 % improvement in surface hardness as well as 100 % healing against nanoscale damage compared to virgin self-healing polymers. Here, we discuss and evaluate the optimized method and mechanism of the self-healing system based on the results of self-healing materials and physical recovery methods for healing surface damage.

Comparison of various organic compounds such as glycols, amines and alkanolamines as organocatalysts in amidation of fatty acid methyl esters with 3-(dimethylamino)-1-propylamine was made for the first time. It was experimentally detected that catalysts containing OH-groups (alcohols, glycols, glycerol and aminoalcohols) influence the reaction rate. Moreover, catalytic effect is depending on the catalysts geometry significantly. 1,5-diols (e. g. diethylene glycol and diethanolamine) were found to accelerate the reaction more than other OH-groups containing additives. It was supposed, that this catalytic effect is caused by specific associative interactions between reactants and 1,5-diols, what was confirmed by quantum mechanics calculations. Catalysts concentration effects on the reaction rate were also investigated.

Importance: treatment of dementia in individuals with comorbidities is complex, leading to potentially inappropriate prescribing (PIP). The impact of PIP in this population is unknown. Objective: to estimate the rate of PIP and its effect on adverse health outcomes (AHO). Design: retrospective cohort. Setting: primary care electronic health records linked to hospital discharge data from England. Subjects: 11,175 individuals with dementia aged over 65 years in 2016 and 43,463 age- and sex-matched controls. Methods: Screening Tool of Older Persons’ Prescriptions V2 defined PIP. Logistic regression tested associations with comorbidities at baseline, and survival analyses risk of incident AHO, adjusted for age, gender, deprivation and 14 comorbidities. Results: the dementia group had increased risk of PIP (73% prevalence; odds ratio [OR]: 1.92; confidence interval [CI]: 83-103%; P < 0.01) after adjusting for comorbidities. Most frequent PIP criteria were related to anti-cholinergic drugs and therapeutic duplication. Risk of PIP was higher in patients also diagnosed with coronary-heart disease (odds OR: 2.17; CI: 1.91-2.46; P < 0.01), severe mental illness (OR: 2.09; CI: 1.62-2.70; P < 0.01); and depression (OR: 1.81; CI: 1.62-2.01; P < 0.01). During follow-up (1 year), PIP was associated with increased all-cause mortality (hazard ratio: 1.14; CI: 1.021.26; P < 0.02), skin ulcer and pressure sores (hazard ratio: 1.66; CI: 1.12-2.46; P< 0.01), falls (hazard ratio: 1.37; CI: 1.15-1.63; P < 0.01), anaemia (hazard ratio: 1.61; CI: 1.10-2.38; P < 0.02) and osteoporosis (hazard ratio: 1.62; CI: 1.022.57; P < 0.04). Conclusion: patients with dementia frequently receive PIPs, and those who do are more likely to experience AHO. A new semi-theoretical equation is suggested for correlation of solid-liquid solubility data with temperature. The (solid + liquid) equilibrium for Terephthaldialdehyde, 4-Nitro-o-phennylenediamine, 2,4-dihydro- 5-methyl-2(4-methylphenyl)-3H-pyrazol-3-one (also named 1-(p-toly1)-3-methyl-5pyrazolone (PTMP)), 2-Amino-5-methylthiazole and 5-chloro-1-methyl-4-nitroimidazole in 18 solvents is correlated with semi-empirical models at temperatures T = 273.15 – 318.15 K under a pressure of 101.2 kPa. Moreover, a modified Apelblat model, lambda h model, Wilson model, NRTL model, new flexible equation as Akbari, Dideban and Farhang model (ADF) and for first time the modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation were utilized to calculate the experiment values. The performance of both ADF and modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation have been checked by calculating the solubility data with the AARD% of 1.3808% (for 775 data points) and 0.65% (for 100 data points), respectively. The Wilson model is applied to estimate the mixing Gibbs energy, mixing enthalpy, mixing entropy, activity coefficient (ln gamma(infinity)(1)) and reduced excess enthalpy (H-I(E,infinity)) at infinitesimal concentration were calculated.

Dearomatization of indole derivatives offers a straightforward approach to access diverse indolines. To date, the corresponding dearomative transformations involving electron-deficient indoles are limited. Herein, we report a one-electron strategy for dearomatization of electron-deficient indoles via a photoredox-catalyzed hydroalkylation employing commercially available glycine derivatives as the hydrofunctionalization reagents. Followed by DBU-mediated lactamization, structurally appealing lactam-fused indolines are obtained in good to excellent yields with exclusive selectivity.
