Even Me2C:CMe2 undergoes cycloaddition Treatment of the cycloadducts with 2% Na amalgam results in ring fragmentation completing the syn-cyanohydroxylation process. Treatment of the cycloadducts with strong nucleophiles (LiOMe, NaCN or NaBH4) results in substitution of the phenylsulfonyl group.
