The reaction was stirred at 0-10 C for one hour and then it was heated to 20 C. Triethylamine (about 2,5 ml) was added to bring the pH to 8-9 and 1 -(3,4- dimethylphenyl)-3-methyl-1 H-pyrazol-5-ona (1 .16 g, 5,725 mmol) was added in one portion. The mixture was stirred for 2 hours at 20 C maintaining the pH 8-9. Hydrochloric acid (4M, about 4 ml) was added to adjust the pH to 1 .5- 2.0.
