The resulting solution was heated over a water bath for about 20 min to obtain a clear solution. This solution (pH = 3.5) was cooled to room temperature and was placed in a vacuum desiccator over calcium chloride for crystallization. Needle-shaped colorless crystals of the title salt are separated after a week, and the crystals were washed with ice-cold absolute alcohol and air-dried. The salt was soluble in cold water, insoluble in alcohol, and was stable in air (yield: 85 percent).
