THF wasadded dropwise to a freshly prepared suspension of sodium hydride (0.21 g; 8.7 mmol). The reactionmixture was stirred for 3 h and then 1.0 mL of methyl iodide (2.24 g; 15.8 mmol) was added dropwise.The mixture was stirred for additional 12 h and quenched by adding approximately 50 mL of water. Thecrude product was extracted with Et2O and dried over sodium sulfate. After evaporation of the solvent theproduct was obtained as a yellowish solid.
