Bull. 1984; 32(4);1568) (509 mg, 2.8 mmol), 2-(2-bromoethoxy)tetrahydro-2-pyran (732 mg, 3.5 mmol) and potassium carbonate (483 mg, 3.5 mmol) in 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (5 ml) was stirred at 80\u00b0 C. for 18 hours. The cooled mixture was poured into ethyl acetate and washed with water and brine, then dried (MgSO4) and evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel using an elution gradient of ethyl acetate:pentane (20:80 to 40:60) to afford the title compound of preparation 34 as a clear oil, 663 mg. [0469] 1HNMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) delta: 1.25 (d, 6H), 1.37 (t, 3H), 1.44-1.71 (m, 6H), 2.97 (m, 1H), 3.42 (m, 1H), 3.54 (m, 1H), 3.75 (m, 1H), 4.00 (m, 1H), 4.32 (q, 2H), 4.54 (t, 1H), 4.68 (m, 1H), 4.76 (m, 1H), 6.64 (s, 1H). [0470] LRMS: m\/z ACPI+ 311 [MH]+ [0471] Further elution provided the title compound of preparation 35, 242 mg. [0472] 1HNMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) delta: 1.25 (d, 6H), 1.38 (t, 3H), 1.46-1.72 (m, 6H), 3.15 (m, 1H), 3.45 (m, 1H), 3.65 (m, 1H), 3.81 (m, 1H), 4.10 (m, 1H), 4.34 (m, 2H), 4.39 (m, 2H), 4.49 (t, 1H), 6.57 (s, 1H).
