The reaction tube was sealed and stirred 20 hours at 100C. The reaction mixture was then cooled to room temperature and poured into water (700 mL). The mixture was sonicated and stirred for 20 minutes. A beige solid was isolated by filtration, washed with small amounts of water, and dried to yield 1-(6-(4-fluoro-1H- pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-3-yl)ethan-1-one (9.81 g, 96% yield).
