To this reaction mixture was added methanesulfonyl chloride (2.35 mL, 30.573 mmol) in CH2C12 (5 mL) dropwise over 10 min at 0 C and stirred at the room temperature for 2 h. The reaction was monitored by TLC for complete consumption of compound 95. The reaction mixture was quenched with water (50 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (50 mL x 2). The combined organic layer was washed with brine (50 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 96 (6 g, crude). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) delta 3.15 (s, 3H), 4.61 (s, 4H), 7.09 (d, J=2.45 Hz, 1H), 8.09 (d, J=2.45 Hz, 1H).
