The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 20 min and then cooled to 0 C, followed by addition of iodomethane dropwise (1.56 g, 10.9 mmol). The mixture is allowed to warm up to room temperature and stirred overnight. Then ice-water (30 mL) is added and the mixture is extracted with dichloromethane (3 X 50 mL). The combined organic phases are dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated to give the titled compound as a brown solid (1.7 g, 93% yield).
