To a solution of 6-bromo-3,4-dihydro-1 H-quinolin-2-one (339 mg, 1.50 mmol) in 15 ml dry DMF was added potassium tert-butylate (336 mg, 3.0 mmol). Purification by flash chromatography (hexanes\/ethyl acetate, 7\/3, R, = 0.21) gave 6- bromo-1-methyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-quinolin-2-one (281 mg, 1.17 mmol, 78 %) as colorless needles.<\/p>\n
