Step 1. A mixture of 4-bromo-1H-pyrazole (150 g, 1.02 mol, 1.0 eq), 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran (128 g, 1.50 mol, 1.5 eq) and trifluoroacetic acid (7.8 mL, 0.10 mol, 0.1 eq) was stirred at 80 C. for 16 h. Progress of the reaction was monitored by TLC (10% ethyl acetate-hexane Rf=0.4). After completion of reaction, the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and the solvents evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain 4-bromo-1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole (180 g, 76%) as a brown oil. LCMS purity: 81.4%; (ES+): m\/z 231.2 (M+H+); tr=1.88 min.<\/p>\n
