The mixture was stirred for 30 minutes, then ? di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (7.40 g, 33.96 mmol) was added to the reaction. The mixture was stirred and warmed to room temperature. After 2 hours, saturated ? aqueous sodium hydrogencarbonate solution was added to the reaction and the mixture was extracted with chloroform. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated.
