The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature overnight. After which time, the reaction was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was basified (pH 8) with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate (20 mL). The product was extracted with DCM (5&#215;15 mL) and the combined organics were washed with brine (20 mL). The aqueous phase was back-extracted with DCM (2&#215;5 mL). The combined organics were dried over MgS04, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound as an off white solid (2.48 g, 83% yield), which was used directly in the next step without purification.
