Bis(diphenylphosphinyl)methane was found to be a very powerful ligand in the synergistic extraction of rare earths, alk. earths and the divalent metals such as Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II). The composition of the extracted species were determined by a graphical method.
