The process involves dehydrogenative coupling of 1-amino-2-imino-pyridines with 1-aryl-5pyrazolone derivatives utilizing O-2 as the sole oxidant. The new method benefits from a high atom economy, efficiency, and substrate scope, as well as the simplicity of reaction and product purification procedures.

The synthesis and photophysical properties of the heteropolynuclear Pt-Ag complex having cyclometalated rollover bipyridine ligands (bpy*) and bridging pyrazolato ligands are reported. The Pt2Ag2 complex was synthesized by two step reactions from a Pt(II) complex precursor having the rollover bpy* ligand, [Pt(bpy*)(dmso)Cl], with 3,5-dimethylpyrazole (Me(2)pzH) and a subsequent replacement of NH protons in the Me(2)pzH moieties with the Ag(I) ion. The Pt2Ag2 complex exists as a mixture of U- and Z-shaped isomers in solution, whose structures were clearly determined by single-crystal X-ray structural analyses. NMR studies using the single crystals revealed rapid isomerization of the Pt2Ag2 complexes in solution, although the Pt2Ag2 structures were supported effectively by the multiple metal-metal interactions. Furthermore, the Pt2Ag2 framework can capture a Ag(I) ion during the U-Z isomerization to afford a Pt2Ag3 core with the formation of Pt. Ag dative bonds. The Pt2Ag3 complex showed further aggregation to form a dimer structure in the presence of coordinating solvent via the crystallization process. The formation of Pt. Ag dative bonds significantly changes the emission energy from the Pt2Ag2 complex, while the emission spectra of U- and Z-isomers of Pt2Ag2 complex almost coincide with each other and their emissive properties are very similar. The density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) calculations revealed the effects of additional Ag(I) ion on the photophysical properties of the heteropolynuclear Pt-Ag complexes bearing the rollover bpy* ligands.

Purpose: Regorafenib is an oral multikinase inhibitor approved for the therapy of previously treated metastatic colorectal carcinoma (mCRC). The aim of the present study was to analyze the outcomes of treatment with regorafenib in real-world clinical practice based on data from a national registry. Methods: The CORECT registry, the Czech non-interventional database of patients with mCRC treated with targeted agents, searched for patients with metastatic CRC treated with regorafenib. In total, 555 evaluable patients were identified. Results: The median age at diagnosis was 61.7 years. All patients had disease progression on or after previous systemic treatment. Most patients were treated with an initial dose of 160 mg daily (n = 463; 83.6%). The median duration of treatment was 2.7 months (range 0.023.4 months). By the data cut-off date, 472 patients (85%) had completed treatment with regorafenib and were evaluable for treatment response evaluation. Partial response was reported in 13 patients (2.8%) and disease stabilization in 130 patients (27.5%). Median progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were 3.5 months (95% confidence interval [CI] 3.2-3.7 months) and 9.3 months (95% CI 8.3-10.3 months), respectively. The 6-month OS rate was 67.7% (95% CI 63.4-72.1%). Multivariable analysis showed that female gender, longer interval from diagnosis of metastatic disease, MO stage at diagnosis, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS) 0 were associated with longer PFS, while higher body-mass index (BMI), longer interval from diagnosis of metastatic disease, and ECOG PS of 0 were associated with longer OS. Conclusion: OS of patients treated with regorafenib in the real-world clinical practice in this cohort exceeded that reported in randomized trials. Regorafenib is a safe and active treatment option for a subgroup of patients with mCRC who are progressing after other systemic therapies and maintain good performance status.

Iridium-catalysed catalytic, regioselective C-H borylation of beta-aryl-aminopropionic acid derivatives gives access to 3,5-functionalised protected beta-aryl-aminopropionic acid boronates. The synthetic versatility of these new boronates is demonstrated through sequential one-pot functionalisation reactions to give diverse building blocks for medicinal chemistry. The C-H borylation is also effective for dipeptide substrates. We have exemplified this methodology in the synthesis of a pan alpha(v)integrin antagonist.

Background: The Islamic Republic of Iran is at high risk of natural disasters. Households are the basic unit of society and they need to be prepared for disasters. Aims: This study assessed disaster preparedness among Iranian households in 2015. Methods: Using multistage cluster sampling, 2968 households in the catchment area of 53 public health departments in all 30 provinces of the Islamic Republic of Iran were surveyed on the disaster preparedness measures they had taken in the past year. The data collection questionnaire included 15 disaster preparedness measures. The mean preparedness score was calculated and its association with residence (urban versus rural), house ownership (owner versus renter) and education level of the head of the household (illiterate, elementary school, middle school, high school, university) was evaluated. Results: The mean score for household disaster preparedness was 9.3 out of 100 (95% confidence interval: 8.3-10.3). Multivariate analysis showed higher preparedness among rural than urban households (P = 0.02). Higher education level was positively associated with a higher preparedness score (P < 0.001), as was house ownership (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The level of household disaster preparedness in the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2015 was low. In line with the first priority for action of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the current study provides an overall picture of household disaster preparedness in the Islamic Republic of Iran. This estimation can be used as a baseline value for policy-making, planning, and evaluation of public awareness of disasters in the country. A new semi-theoretical equation is suggested for correlation of solid-liquid solubility data with temperature. The (solid + liquid) equilibrium for Terephthaldialdehyde, 4-Nitro-o-phennylenediamine, 2,4-dihydro- 5-methyl-2(4-methylphenyl)-3H-pyrazol-3-one (also named 1-(p-toly1)-3-methyl-5pyrazolone (PTMP)), 2-Amino-5-methylthiazole and 5-chloro-1-methyl-4-nitroimidazole in 18 solvents is correlated with semi-empirical models at temperatures T = 273.15 – 318.15 K under a pressure of 101.2 kPa. Moreover, a modified Apelblat model, lambda h model, Wilson model, NRTL model, new flexible equation as Akbari, Dideban and Farhang model (ADF) and for first time the modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation were utilized to calculate the experiment values. The performance of both ADF and modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation have been checked by calculating the solubility data with the AARD% of 1.3808% (for 775 data points) and 0.65% (for 100 data points), respectively. The Wilson model is applied to estimate the mixing Gibbs energy, mixing enthalpy, mixing entropy, activity coefficient (ln gamma(infinity)(1)) and reduced excess enthalpy (H-I(E,infinity)) at infinitesimal concentration were calculated.

A series of pyrazole ligands named as 1,4-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)butane (bbd), 1,3-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)propane (bdpp), and 1,3-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)propane-2-ol (bdpo) along with their transition metal complexes including [Cu-2(mu(3)-SCN)(2)(mu-bbd)](n), [Cu-2(mu(3)-SCN)(2)(mu-bdpp)](n), and [Cu2Hg(mu(2)-SCN)(2)(bdpo)(2)(CH3COO)(2)](n)were synthesized and characterized using FT-IR and Uv-vis spectroscopies, as well as thermal gravimetric analysis. The prepared compounds were investigated as corrosion inhibitors to protect mild steel in 0.5 M H(2)SO(4)solution. Corrosion tests were performed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The pyrazole ligands exhibited inhibition efficiencies in a range of 38-78%, which introduced them as moderate inhibitors. On the other hand, the pyrazole complexes showed inhibition efficiencies higher than 85%, demonstrating their high potentials to mitigate the steel corrosion. In addition, the bimetallic complex resulted in higher corrosion resistance than the two monometallic complexes. This was evidence of a critical role of the coordinated metal of the complex in forming an adhesive protection film on the steel surface.

The first Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allenylic [4+1] cycloaddition was successfully developed. Alternatively, tuning the Pd catalyst switched the reactivity toward an unprecedented [4+3] cycloaddition/cross-coupling. Ligands play a vital role in controlling the reaction pathway, allowing highly selective access to different products from identical substrates. Biological evaluation of the obtained compounds led to the discovery of new antitumor targets. A possible mechanism is proposed, suggesting two interesting catalytic cycles for the cycloaddition with palladium-butadienyls. This study also demonstrated the potential and utility of allenic esters as 1,4-biselectrophiles and C-4 synthons for participating in cycloaddition reactions.
