Here in, the effects of FeSiAl particle size on the dielectric and microwave absorption properties of FeSiAl/Al2O3 composites were studied. FeSiAl/Al2O3 composites containing 18-25 mu m, 25-48 mu m, and 48-75 mu m FeSiAl particles were prepared by hot-pressed sintering based on uniformly mixed FeSiAl and Al2O3 powders. Results show that the real permittivity and the imaginary permittivity are significantly promoted with increasing FeSiAl particle size, which is ascribed to the enhanced interfacial polarization and conductance loss. In addition, the favorable matching impedance and suitable attenuation coefficient enabled the composite containing 25-48 mu m FeSiAl powder to show a minimum reflection loss of -34.4 dB at 11.7 GHz and an effective absorption bandwidth (<-10 dB) of 1.4 GHz in 11.0-12.4 GHz, when the thickness is 1.1 mm. By adjusting the thickness to 1.4 mm, the effective absorption bandwidth of the composite reaches a maximum value of 2.0 GHz in the 8.3-10.3 GHz range, indicating tunable, strong, and highly efficient microwave absorption performance. Furthermore, unusual kappa N-monodentate coordination of Me2PPA has been found in the structure of the hydrated copper(II) complex Cu(Me(2)PPA)(2)Cl-2 center dot 2H(2)O (8). This uncommon type of micelle, with a spherical core diameter of similar to 2nm, forms in water in a spontaneous and quantitative manner. The cycloalkane-based, hydrophobic cavity displays peculiar host abilities as follows: (i) highly efficient uptake of sterically demanding Zn(II)-tetraphenylporphyrin and rubrene dyes, (ii) selective uptake of substituted Cu(II)-phthalocyanines and spherical nanocarbons, and (iii) uptake-induced solution-state emission of [Au(I)-dimethylpyrazolate](3) in water. A new fumarato bridged Zn(II) coordination polymer viz. catena[mu-fumaratobis(3,5-dimethylpyrazole)zinc(II) trihydrate],{[Zn-2(mu-fum)(2)(Hdmpz)(4)]center dot 3H(2)O}(n) (1) (where, fum = fumarate, Hdmpz = 3,5-dimethylpyrazole) has been synthesized in purely aqueous medium at room temperature. The compound is structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, electronic spectroscopy, PXRD and TGA. The zig-zag polymeric chain of 1 self assembles into a 2D supramolecular network via C-H center dot center dot center dot pi, C-H center dot center dot center dot C, N-H-center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot O interactions. Particularly relevant in 1, since in addition to the aforementioned non-covalent interactions, the electron rich pi-system of fumarate is involved in energetically significant unconventional pi-pi contacts with the electron poor pi-cloud of Hdmpz, which have been analyzed by DFT calculations and characterized using the non-covalent interaction (NCI) plot index. The strong H-bond agrees well with the MEP analysis since it is established between the H-bond donor involving NH group of Hdmpz and the H-bond acceptor involving O-atom of carboxylate moiety. The compound has been investigated for anticancer activities considering cell cytotoxicity, apoptosis and molecular docking as parameters in Dalton’s lymphoma (DL) malignant cancer cell line and results were compared with cisplatin (reference drug) under the same experimental conditions. Interestingly, negligible cytotoxic effect was observed against normal cells (PBMC) in comparison to the cancer cells (DL). The treatment of the compound caused appearance of apoptotic cells as evident by fluorescence based nuclear morphology study. The in silica study reveals that the compound interacts with the antiapoptotic proteins such as bcl-2, bcl-XL and Mcl-1 which may lead to apoptotic cell death.

Synthesis of the multidentate coordinated chelate N3C-H-2, composed of a linked functional pyridyl pyrazole fragment plus a peripheral phenyl and pyridyl unit, was obtained using a multistep protocol. Next, a series of mononuclear Ir(III) complexes with the formulas [Ir(kappa(4)-N3C)Cl(py)] (3), [Ir(kappa(4)-N3C)Cl(dmap)] (4), [Ir(kappa(4)-N3C)-Cl(mpzH)] (5), and [Ir(kappa(4)-N3C)Cl(dmpzH)] (6), as well as diiridium complexes [Ir-2(kappa(5)-N3C)-(mpz)(2)(CO)(H)(2)] (7) and [Ir-2(kappa(5)-N3C)-(dmpz)(2)(CO)(H)(2)] (8), were obtained upon treatment of dimer 2 with pyridine (py), 4-dimethylaminopyridine (dmap), 4-methylpyrazole (mpzH), and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole (dmpzH), respectively. These Ir(III) metal complexes were identified using spectroscopic methods and by X-ray crystallographic analysis of representative derivatives 3, 5, and 7. Notably, green-emitting organic light-emitting diode (OLED) on the basis of Ir(III) complex 7 gives a maximum external quantum efficiency up to 25.1%. Results: the dementia group had increased risk of PIP (73% prevalence; odds ratio [OR]: 1.92; confidence interval [CI]: 83-103%; P < 0.01) after adjusting for comorbidities. Most frequent PIP criteria were related to anti-cholinergic drugs and therapeutic duplication. Risk of PIP was higher in patients also diagnosed with coronary-heart disease (odds OR: 2.17; CI: 1.91-2.46; P < 0.01), severe mental illness (OR: 2.09; CI: 1.62-2.70; P < 0.01); and depression (OR: 1.81; CI: 1.62-2.01; P < 0.01). During follow-up (1 year), PIP was associated with increased all-cause mortality (hazard ratio: 1.14; CI: 1.021.26; P < 0.02), skin ulcer and pressure sores (hazard ratio: 1.66; CI: 1.12-2.46; P< 0.01), falls (hazard ratio: 1.37; CI: 1.15-1.63; P < 0.01), anaemia (hazard ratio: 1.61; CI: 1.10-2.38; P < 0.02) and osteoporosis (hazard ratio: 1.62; CI: 1.022.57; P < 0.04). Conclusion: patients with dementia frequently receive PIPs, and those who do are more likely to experience AHO. These results highlight the need to optimise medication in dementia patients, especially those with comorbidities.
